Carol Piper has enjoyed a lifelong passion for art and textiles. What began in the 1970s with helping friends find the perfect rug, has grown into a thriving business dealing with the finest antique and decorative carpets. Carol sources rugs from Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and she specializes in hard-to-find, unique and extraordinary antique rugs. She studied weaving at the Camden Art Institute after completing her graduate work in at the University of Nebraska. She is a member of Textile and Oriental Rug Club of Houston and the Hajji Baba Club, and is an ASID Industry Partner.
Houston native Ryan Reitmeyer attended the Bard Graduate Center, where he studied under rug scholar Sally Sherrill. He has worked in two of the top rug showrooms in New York: Michaelian and Kohlberg in SoHo, and Carini Lang in Tribeca. Both rug lines are available exclusively through Carol Piper Rugs
Carol and Ryan are now creating an exclusive line of original rug designs for the shop. This line will include revivals of classic antique carpets from our inventory as well as new, fresh interpretations of rug design in the 21st century.
We especially enjoy the process of finding the right rug to meet a client's needs, taking into account budget, taste, furnishings, and lifestyle.
